I recently downloaded and installed the 32 bit version of RC1. I have had
some hardware problems most notably with my graphics card (which is not Aero
compatible) and creative SoundBlaster live 24 bit (drivers will not be
available until end of Jan 07) and for some reason I had some anomalies with
the upgrade from XP Pro SP2. I have needed to install both operating systems
on my laptop in 2 partitions with XP in the first and a clean install of
Vista in the second partition just to have access to the hardware that will
not run under vista. I have now taken the expensive option and purchased a
new laptop from Dell, however my new laptop will be a 64 bit system. My
system arrives tomorrow and will come with a vista upgrade from Media Centre
to Vista Home Premium, but Dell tell me there is a backlog and it could take
up until March for them to get on top of the demand. I want to test my new
system with Vista to see how it works but only have a 32 bit version. Is
there anyway I can download the 64 bit version and will my product key for
the 32 bit version work with a 64 version?. Microsoft have not been very
helpful and have advised me to download it from MSDN but I have been told
this will cost me over £100.00 which I am not going to pay for a product
that I will legally have for free in a few months time
Can anyone help?
