I'd like to know how to tell if my NT4 server is a stand alone server
or a PDC or a BDC. If not here then where can I find this out.

thanks

Admin Tools|Server Manager and look in the 'Type' column.

You can also open a command prompt on the machine itself and type 'net
accounts' and it will tell you it's role in the bottom of the list.

I see your question has already been answered. For others who read
your subject line with interest, the Windows NT newsgroups are named

microsoft.public.windowsnt.*
and
comp.os.ms-windows.nt.*
