Where are the Icons or Logos on Software CD's?

Can someone please tell me where the Icon or logo for a software CD is
located on the CD?

Here is why I ask.

I have a HP Photosmart CD that insists on displaying a Logitech logo in My
Computer - DVD CD Burner on my main desktop computer. On my other two
computers, the CD displays the HP Icon. On the main computer, all other
software CD's display their appropriate logos. The DVD CD drive appears to
work fine reading and writing in all cases.

I've had searched the Autorun.Inf file on the CD and can find no instance of
Logitech but did find an entry for PNGLogo.png in the Images folder.

It seems strange the DVD-CD drive on the main computer would show the logos
for all other CD's correctly and the HP CD would show the correctly on the
other two computers.

No big deal, I just wonder what is going on.

Thank you.

The CDs we create at my work have a line in the autorun.inf file
"icon=something.exe". The icon for the CD is then located in that .EXE file
or .ICO file.

Thank you. That yielded an interesting result. The Autorun.Inf on the HP
CD contained a line icon=setup.exe,0. I ran setup.exe, 0 from the command
line, and sure enough the proper Logo came up in My Computer. Sounds like
the Autorun.inf is not getting run on the main computer. Will look into
that.

Thanks again.

A follow up. After running setup.exe from the command line, when I insert
the CD in the Drive now the correct logo appears. Go figure. Will try it
again the next time I reboot tomorrow.

Thanks again.

That line, icon=setup.exe,0 is telling Windows to get the "zeroth" icon
from the resources in setup.exe. I can't remember if the zero is an
index or an identifier, but the point is that it's indicating which
icon--it's not a parameter for the execution of setup.exe.

Rt\click the .png file and try to open it. If you`ve got an appropriate
software on your
computer the picture will be displayed.

Quite correct. There will be another line in the Autorun.inf,
"open=setup.exe". The Run= line tells the autorunner (?) which file to
execute.

Grinder, the zero is an index and the ',0' is not strictly necessary to get
the first (zero based) index.

Sounds like you might need to refresh your icon cache. Can't remember how to
do this, but you just delete a particular file and reboot. Google for
refresh icon cache and see what you can find

Oh boy! Found a whole bunch of stuff. Will explore later.

Thanks again.

A couple of the Google references mentioned using TweakUI. I have that
program but never looked at the 'repair' part. Anyway, I repaired the Icons
and now things seem to be as I think they should.

Thanks for the tip!
