Where are the files with addresses to be checked

I'm running XP Home, Outlook 2000 all available updates.

When addressing email, I type a name "Bryan" and Outlook
auto-fills the rest of the name. I right click on the
name, then Properties, and the email address is correct.
I click Send and the email is sent out with a different,
obsolete address. ??

I have checked Outlook by sorting my contacts by email,
and have verified that the obsolete email address is not
in my Contacts file. Where else should I look for this
address? Can you tell me what Outlook checks when it
autofills and then the message is sent?

Hint: I also had Outlook Express 6 installed on this
computer, and OE6 had the stale address in it. I deleted
OE6 using Control Panel->Remove programs. The problem
still exists. What files/directories should I look in
for some sort of address book that I don't need? I hope
this is a hint and not a red herring.

Thanks. -Skip

First, I am surprised that you can even use Outlook since it requires that
OE be installed.

Second, Outlook 2000 uses a .nick file for name resolution. If you want,
you can delete this file and build a new one from scratch.

Ah! The nickname file was the key (I hope). I went to
the MS web site, downloaded the nickname file editor, and
zapped every permutation of Bryan's name. Let's hope
that does it. I'll let you know, and THANKS! -Skip
