Where are the default settings

I have a very odd problem.

I can browse the Internet in Safe Mode with Networking but cannot in Normal
mode.

I played around with the permission settings and I fear that I messed things
up. And my Security Program McAffee doesn't understand my security settings
so I had to unistall it.

I'm currently in Safe Mode with Networking as I type this message.

My question:
Is there anyway I can fix this problem with 1 click to reset the security
and permissions back to my original state? I already tried the recovery
program and that didn't work either.

I save the system and netwrok diagnostics for anyone who can me.

Let me know as soon as you have a chance

Have you logged on in the Last Known Good Configuration from the Safe Mode
options? If you have and it did not resolve the problem, do as follows:

You need to take ownership of the Drive, folder, program or file in the
security tab in the object properties and after that set the security
permissions to

Default... to do that; create a new folder in the main drive and go into the
security tab to see how the default permissions are established, and
according to that make the necessary corrections in the corresponding drive,
folder, file or program.

See the indications on how to remove simple file sharing and make the
Security tab visible, how to take ownership, and how to set security
permissions

You have a startup program/service that is blocking internet access such as
a program that can also be a firewall assuming here that Internet Explorer
works fine but it just does not show web pages. Use msconfig [built in] or
Autoruns from SysInternals to do selective startup to isolate the program or
service that causing the problems and then you will have to remove or modify
the program settings. Msconfig would be best to start with. --- Steve
