OK, I give up. I've gone to the Control Panel, Folder Options, enabled to
view all hidden files and system files and still I can't see where the
Outlook Express dbx files are stored. I've done several searches to no avail
and am running XP Pro.
What am I not doing right?

Open Windows Explorer and cruise to:

C:\Documents and Settings\"User"\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\Microsoft\Outlook Express

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Fixes, Find and Open the OE Mail Store for a
small VB Script utility that will locate the folder for you and offer to
open an Explorer Window on that folder.

OE4 uses *.IDX & *.MBX files. OE5.0 & above use *.DBX files.

1. Open OE> TOOLS> Options> Maintenance tab> Store Folder button> Location of Files shown.

2. If you have Multiple Identities, you will need to do #1 for each of them.

3. If you are using Win2000 or WinXP, these files will be hidden. So under Folder Options, you will need reset them not to be hidden.

My Computer> TOOLS> Folder Options> Select Show All folders.

Open Outlook Express and select Tools/Options/Maintenance tab. Click the
Store Folder button and it will display the path to the store folder.

Hi,

Thank you, all. I found them thanks to your advice, and this was not a
test. I still wonder why, even though all folders are enabled to show why
they will not show up in a Search, but knowing how to get there is most of
the battle.

Did you go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and verify that
you are looking in the right place?

Yes, i looked there and I saw the path for the ..dbx files also i did a
search and i can see them. I can and did copy them from the search
window put here is my problem, now that some are copied into a temp
file still can not get past Identiy (string of numbers) so i can insert
the the the .dbx file. OE imprt does not see any messages in my temp
file also, so that feature does not work. I believe i must manually
drop these files into the Outlookfolder.
Any Ideas are welcome, thank you
