Hi All,
Is there any word on the ATI RS480 chipset based MBs using the DX9 graphics
solution?
I'm looking for a new system, but the only board that I see in the US with
is the MSI board, which falls short for me in that there's no firewire, the
sound chip is 5.1 instead of 7.1 (I hope to end up with a home theater PC),
the ethernet is 100bt and the SATA is 150MB/s (not an issue with today's
drives).
To top it off, there's no real overclocking options in the BIOS from
reports, and MSI has been turning out some boards with questionable
relaibility of late.

Until last Friday, availability of even the MSI boards was scarce, then
suddenly a new wave of vendors showed up on pricewatch, all on the same day.
Is something wrong with the chipset?

I'm hoping to find a MB with the ATI SB450 or ULi 1573 southbridge with
Azalia sound support.
Decent integrated graphics, 7.1 sound and firewire (any form) are the
primary requirements.
Gbe would be a very nice feature, let alone dual, but I think that I can
live without. The goal is to avoid add-in cards for space reasons.
Overclocking options in the BIOS would be desireable.

Does anyone know when a board like this might be coming out?

I would have to recommend staying away from MSI boards. I just bought a K8T
Neo2
and its been problematic. It needed the BIOS flashed before it recognized
all of my RAM,
it says the CD-RW I have been using for a year now is ATAPI incompatible,
and generally
is acting unstable. To top it off the manual show many jumper and pin
settings incorrectly.
Just wanted to warn you.

The K8N Neo in the machine I'm writing this on, is my second MSI in a row,
and both have been flawless.

Hmmmmm I built 3-A64s (clawhammers) and 2-AXPs (T-breds) with MSI boards
for friends and have had no complaints, the XPs are over 2 years old and
the A64 systems turned a year old 1-2 weeks ago.

Good luck,
Ed

Jetway A210PDAG maybe. Do not know if it for sale yet.

I sent Jetway an email, and they said they'd get back with me.
Will pass along any info they send me.

I have the P version of the chipset and it supports
Firewire,PCIExpresss,ethernet10/100 and SATA. Sorry as only 5.1 audio
support. My mb is a MSI RS480M2.

rate ECS.
