where are dbx files

Isn't that for the Contacts for Windows Live? The questions is about the dbx
files, which is where OE stores messages, so I think the answer is:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail

And most everything is in the "Local Folders" directory as in:

C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

Ok, let me explain how my question came about. I used
to store all the OE messages in a separate partition from
the operating system so that I could reinstall windows
without a need to do any special backups.

Now that I have a new computer using Vista and WM,
I wanted to do the same thing. So I did not know that
the files were not in dbx folders anymore. I guess that
makes backing up mail data more complicated, since I
will need to copy it manually to the other partition? If
I need to reinstall Vista, could I just then copy those
files back to the WM storage place, wherever that is?

Thanks

Vista will not read the dbx files. I spent hours on the internet and forums
with no results until I came across a company that makes a trial version and
full version of a program that will allow you to go in to you old outlook
express folders and retreive the dbx files and convert them so Windows Mail
can read them. Long process but I had over 1500 outlook express emails to
lose so I antied up the $29.95 to get the program.
DBXTriever will help you extract emails as eml format files from dbx format
files. When you have eml files, you can drag/drop them into your Outlook or
Windows Mail's folder like this video showing:
http://www.dbxtriever.com/video/emltooe.gif . Then you will have your old
emails again.

No need to defend your decision. Your $29.95 solution is good. It works for
you. That's the only thing that matters.
