Need scanjet 3300c, sandisk, and olympus device drivers. Where are they.
Microsoft should provide theses drivers.

Hardware drivers are developed by hardware manufacturers.
Visit the support web site of the manufacturer of your hardware
devices and see if they have developed drivers for Windows Vista
that can be downloaded.

Wrong, scanjet 3300c, sandisk, and olympus are the ones that need to supply
the device drivers.

As others have stated, drivers are the responsibility of the hardware
manufacturer and checking the HP site revealed they will not be supporting
your Scanjet 3200c in Vista.

That said, the above applies even to drivers supplied in the OS. If
hardware manufacturer's supply drivers in time for the release of the OS,
they are included, if not, they usually post information at their websites
about models that will be supported along with information those drivers are
currently in development.

The hardware manufacturer's know their devices and know what they want them
to do. Often, those functions are proprietary as they often provide a
multitude of features. Even when they only provide drivers of basic
functionality, how those functions are invoked and work are different from
device to device. Hence, it is necessary for the manufacturer's to provide
drivers for their supported devices.

That is why it is totally unaccepable to withdraw from sale an OS without
prior public consultation.

Windows XP is still widely available for sale.

Consultation??? There was an awful lot of build up to the release of Vista.
I don't recall Steve Jobs or Apple "consulting" with the public prior to
releasing their new generation of OSs. One might define beta testing as
consultation; whatever the case, XP has not been withdrawn from sale and
from what I gather, will be available at retail through January 31, 2008,
possibly longer depending upon the amount of merchandise in the supply
chain.

Would that not be plenty of warning, can customers NOT purchase now in
anticipation of a new system, assuming they would be able to find XP drivers
for the hardware on that new system?
