When you schedule an OOF in the Calendar does this pass to Email

If a set an OOF in my calendar, will this automatically notify email senders
that I am not available via the email OOF assistant message?

No, the OOF is a mail only item and must be set using the out of office assistant button while in a mail enabled folder. Only a custom action would work as you want.
