when will news group be up?

Your question makes no since. The newsgroups have been up. Just b/c your
system is down, doesnt mean the newsgroups are.

Greetings --

The Usenet is still available, although there does seem to be some
problem with Microsoft's Community CDO web-based access. Fortunately,
the web-based site is arguably the worst possible way to access
Usenet, so it's unavailability is no great loss. The news groups are
all (well, all that I've checked -- there are many thousands of them,
after all) still functioning.

Dear Oldtimer, you are right, your newsgroups are a mess. The CDO servers
are nearly kaput right now, and have been for far too long.
If you switch to Outlook Express, you will easily be able to do searches,
highlighting, deletion, fonts, and all kinds of other civilized things. Get
set up today:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/newsgroups/setup.asp

http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx
"follow through there to Outlook Express and its TELL ME HOW, to get to a
comprehensive tutorial. "

I agree... :) Although I prefer others for binaries, you can't beat OE for
text posts...

Our set up is so peculiar that we can't use outlook at all
(no modem, just a radio link to a broadband setup up the
road. They say they might sort it out one day). Internet
explorer is our only window on the net, so it's a relief
to be able to see this forum again. Surely as IE is
micrioft software it shouldn't be so hard to get microsoft
user forums on it!!

That would indicate to me that the configuration for the broadband
connection is incorrect... They probably need to open the relevant port
(usually 119) the NNTP protocol requires to gain access...
