I have searched internal database and find the known issue "Tab control
TabPage order is randomized". I think this is the problem you are talking
about.
In the issue document, I was told that it will be fixed in Whidbey. Hope
this information helps you.
Jeffrey, by no means I am picking on you.
You are doing a great job and have nothing to do with the issue.
*However*
I find this approach deeply disturbing.
If a a company releases a buggy product, I would expect them to provide fixes for it and not to tell their customer base to BUY the next version instead.
Visual Studio 6 had *SIX* service packs which fixed bugs of various severity.
Visual Studio 2003 has a number of bugs but I am not aware of patches.
This particular bug ticks me off because it was known since VS 2002 (according to Google).
Our company is currently evaluating switching to .NET development with my project being a test case.
What should I put in my report?
Something like "In the TCO considerations, keep in mind that Microsoft will not fix bugs in the product but will instead suggest that we upgrade (read: pay) to the next version when it becomes available, in a couple of years or so"?
I would appreciate it if you could convey my displeasure to the person(s) in Microsoft that made such decisions.
Best regards,
Alex.
