When I use the tab key to move from left to right, if I
hit enter afterwards it assumes that I'm entering a list
of data and goes immediately to the first column where I
started entering the data, instead of staying in the same
column where I am currently positioned. How can I change
this setting?

Hi Laura,
Go to Tools > Options > Edit and look at you options for
Move selection after enter. You can then use the drop down
box for choices

Ray,

Thanks for the reply. After enter it moves down, and I
want it to move down. My problem is that when I use the
tab key to go right, after hitting enter it does go down,
but it also moves left to the first column where I started
entering data, istead of going just down within the column
where I last entered data.

I appreciate your help!

Laura,
Try tools > Options > transition tab and clear the
transition navigation keys check box.

AFAIK, you can't turn off this setting. However, if you use the arrow
keys to move right, the Enter key will move you down.

Or, use the tab key to move right, then press the down arrow key to move
down.

The "Named Range" procedure is usually utililized for filling forms where
the cell entry jumps around the sheet, but perhaps you could use it to suit
your needs.
