Powerpoint 2007, during the transition between bulletted text can the
outgoing text be automatically grey-out (reduced in visual priority) as the
new bulletted text arrives on screen

Yes, you can do this by custom animation. Chose whatever animation for
entrance you want. Than click in the custom animation panel on the little
arrow beneath the animation to see the menu, click on "Effect options".
Chose "After animation", click the little arrow and chose one of the colours
or click on "More colors" and look for the colour you want to have.

In addition, I usually end up removing the grey from the last bullet point.
If you have it in, it takes two clicks to get to the next slide when you're
finished -- one click to grey, another to move to the next slide.

To remove the grey from one bullet, expand the list, select the last
animation, go to Effect Options and remove the color. Here's how to expand
the list
(http://www.echosvoice.com/individualbullets.htm#IndividualBulletedTextAnimation
) -- just click the chevron.
