Turn your computer off for a few seconds and turn it on again.

Possibly updating to SP 2 could help.

Most of us don't know what that means.

Why do you capitalize the word "lower?"

Read your post and think if you could help someone similar.

How many times are you going to post a variation of this question? Just
throw in a new drive and be done with it!!!!

The main idea of these discussion groups is to help others with their
computer problems. We, and i'm sure I speak with every member on these
discussion groups , do not need hassle from people who think that this is
their site. You are here to help not hinder.

Yes, that's right. But you've posted and posted and you've tried
everything connected with software, so what's left but hardware? I
don't know why you are so reluctant to just try a different drive. As
I've said, a new CD-RW is very inexpensive and if your drive is dead,
posting and posting isn't going to bring it back to life. I'm sorry you
don't like this advice, but it is the next practical step for you.

If you really want to be sure if the drive is dead or if it is a Windows
problem, either boot with Knoppix (a Linux distro that runs from cd) or
swap out the drive for a known-working one.
