When refilling HP #58 (photo), do you use BLACK or is there a PHOTO BLACK?

I'm about to try and refill my photo #58 cart, and I know it uses Photo
cyan, Photo Magenta and has a black container as well. The refill
instructions say "PHOTO BLACK" but none of the kits I've seen offer a photo
black- just plain black.

Can I use plain BLACK ink in the photo cartridge? The same ink I used in my
#56 black cart?

NO you must get Photo Black the #56 is pigmented and NOT compatible
Go to www.inktec.com

Don't do that until you get a definite answer from someone who knows
for sure. I believe the #56 Black and the #58 Photo Black are
different. I refill mine and the kit from Atlantic Ink Jet for the #58
cartridge has a Photo Black.

The black ink in the #56 cartridge is pigmented, good for plain paper. The
black in the #58 cartridge is dye based. Pigmented ink will not work in the
#58 cartridge. You will likely give up quite a bit of lightfastness (10X or
more) with refill inks. See

Wilhelm's site at: http://www.wilhelmresearch.com/.

You need dye ink for the #58 and pigmented ink for the #56. I have both and
can definitely tell the difference between them by shaking the bottles, the
pigmented ink clings a bit to the sides and takes longer to settle.

#58 cartridge uses a dye colorant black ink suitable for photos, thus it is
called photo-black
#56 cartridge uses a pigment archival ink, primarily for text printing. It's
usually just called black.

The black I have doesn't say if its PIGMENTED or DYE... it just simply says
BLACK.

Now I need to order PHOTO BLACK online, since the local shops don't seem to
carry a specific PHOTO BLACK.
