I'd a Win2k Pro that sharing two printers for all users. Both of the two printers are using standard TCP/IP port to collect to this Win2k PC, and all another users are mapped these Print Queue that the Win2k PC shared out and it's work fine for a long time ago. However, recently the users seems can't use that two printers, I'd checked the status and the two printers had in offline mode with a message "User Intervention required, use printer offline". Sometimes it's become normal again when I restart the Win2k PC and one things so strange is that it's fine for my PC (I'm using WinXP, and the PCs occurred problems are using Win2k or Win98) to print to that two printers. Do anyone have idea what's going on

I would sincerely appreciate any help

If these status messages are erroneous, I would troubleshoot this by
clearing the checkbox for "SNMP Status Enabled" on the configuration of the
TCP/IP ports in question. Let me know what result this has. (note: you will
have to restart the spooler service for this to take effect)

Thx for the reply, Jason. I'd enabled the SNMP. However, I'm idiot, I don't know what should I do next. Can you adv

In the TCP/IP port setting: SNMP Status Enabled, Community Name: public, SNMP Device Index: 1

You need to *clear* the checkbox for SNMP...thus the SNMP settings are not
relevant
Let me know what kind of effect this has on the printing error

Hi,

For turning on the offline mode, firstly you have to firstly click Start.

You have to take the Control panel. In that, you would select the option named ‘Printers and Faxes’ icon.

When you click that it would open a window. That window would show the list of printers which are being connected to the system.

Then, double-click the printer in which you have to change the mode. A pop-up window would then appear.

You would go to the printer in the menu bar of that pop-up window.

Lastly uncheck the ‘use Printer Offline’. After performing that the printer would go into the online mode.

for more information............ http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/18319-63-printer-line-problem hope this helps you.

Good Luck!
