Noticed tonight in my LOGIN area of XP under Outlook 2000 that when I click
on contacts and my address book opens,,, it sits there a second and then I
get an error message saying that Microsoft has detected a problem and will
now close.
I have tried repeatably to open but always get same message even in safe
mode.
So I tried to do a detect and repair using the CD program for outlook 2000
and still get same problem.
BUT the OUTLOOK program does not display this same error message when logged
out and logged into under another user, Therefore it must be part of my
personal address book for that name only..
How should I tackle this problem?
I have been doing a bit of homework here and have found that this is the
problem file within ..
C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\561a_appcompat.txt
as I said.., when I click and open up the contact tab and then don't move
the mouse or touch any keys,, the Microsoft error message comes up within
seconds. I click on the little blue tab within the error message that says
' to see what data the eror report contains ' I get a whole page of notes
but that one line here is being sent with the data report.
can I delete my contact list with in Outlook 2000 without having to
physically go into that part of the program? In other words where else in the
computer
( registry?) can I go and delete all the emaill address and names???
( I do have it backed up as a .csv elsewhere)...
I can still open up my wab /or pab by clicking on the little address book
within an email create on the To line,,,, I can still use the inbox / sent
/etc folders just the 'contact' folder when opened crashes and only in my
username log in does it crash .. the other two names are fine .when Outlook
contacts are opened.
