When opening a web site using recent sites in the file menu

When opening a web site using recent sites in the file menu I get
this message. . .
An error occurred accessing your Windows SharePoint Services site
files. Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact
the Webmaster for this server's Web site. WebMasters - please see
the server's application event log for more details.

When I use my browser the site on my local computer opens up
http://Larry/pinkieswear. I reinstalled Fronpage 2003 and that did
not help. I never had this problem. How can I correct this
problem?

Try using File Menu | Open Web / Site and enter the URL to your live/remote site like,
http://www.pinkieswear.com

Run the "Clear FrontPage "Temporary" Files" and "Clear FrontPage Web Cache files (*.web)"
functions.

See if that helps.

Ok
You're going to have to remove some items from the registry:
Close FrontPage

Click Start > Run and type: regedit and then click OK

Click the plus signs until you are here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Recent Page List

And right click on each File# value and then select Delete. Do not delete the Default value name

Close regedit and reopen FrontPage.
You will have to browse to the webs and open the pages to repopulate the list.

The error is common and a known "bug"
- usually only when the recent web is on a localhost

There is a difference in the methods FP uses to open Webs from Recent Sites vs. Network Places
(or when you type the URL)
Just always open your localhost sites from Network Places
