When open Outlook, Windows Installer box opens and slows opening

Whenever I open Outlook 2003 (installed with Office 2003 [Student/Teacher
Edition] from CD), Windows Installer boxes pop up and either stay up or
regenerate four or five times - some times for as long as five minutes. I am
running Dell P-4.

Hi,
have you try to run
control panel > software > microsoft offiice > add/remove > repair?
 
I have the same problem -- even on a simple send-receive, or when switching
apps within OUTLOOK 2003, the Windows installer box appears with the cryptic,
"Installing..."

I tried reinstalling OFFICE 2003 about 20 minutes ago; beforer that, I tried
"detect and repair." Neither one works.

Could it be a problem with the version or condition of Installer itself? I
have seen KB articles on disabling or upgrading Windows Installer. Is this a
workable solution?
Can one substitute another (non-Windows) installer instead?
