when movie made it is too long

At one point my movie was almost 10 minutes but I pared it down to a little
under six minutes. But when I make the project into a movie file, the movie
file is 10 minutes long with more than four minutes of black. What's up with
that? How do I 'crop' it out? It's not there in the timeline or the project
view and there's no events or objects past six minutes...

Hello,

Have you left a bit of text further down the timeline or perhaps an audio file?
Its a mistake I have made more than once :)

Nope, as I wrote, there are no objects past six minutes in the timeline or
storyboard views.

Hello,

OK, there are two possibilities then that "might" cause your problem.

1) your project file has become corrupt
2) You have an MPG or Mp3 file in there. (Movie Maker does not like either and
it causes some pretty varied effects))

Solutions

1) Create a New Blank file and start again. or Put a large enough video file in
so that the end is beyond your current eronious end save project close Movie
Maker and re-start followed by reloading and deleting the new file
2) Convert any Jpeg's to BMP, MPG to AVI and MP3 to WAV and use those files
instead.
