I am using Office version 2003. Part of my job, being an instructor, is to
create many PowerPoint presentations. I've been experienced this annoying
problem since typing anything in the text box, I would have to wait because
the words would not appear simultaneously as I type. I tried uninstall and
reinstall Office, but it still the same. Please help.

Thank you.

Have you ran detect and repair in both Office and Windows? If not, give it
a try.

Just to test something, does this happen in PPT only, or in both PPT and
Word?

Also, please open something like Notepad and try there as well. Does the
typing delay in Notepad, too?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the Critical
Update or Service Pack 1 for Office 2003 as soon as possible. From
PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for Updates".]

Hello,

This might be caused due to background spell checking. Turn off this
feature to see if the problem goes away:

1) Tools -> Options
2) In "Spelling and Style" tab, uncheck the "Check spelling as you type"
option
3) Click "OK"

Let me know if this resolves the problem. If it doesn't, we have had
reports of this symptom being caused by a virus, adware, spyware or other
backgroud task running on a system.

To troubleshoot this do the following:

A) Determine whether someting in the system startup is causing the problem:

1) Close all running applications
2) Start -> Run
3) Type in "msconfig" without quotation marks
4) Click "OK"
5) Click on "Selective Startup" in the "General" tab of the System
Configuration Utility
6) Uncheck the "Load Startup Items" option
7) Click "OK"
8) Click "Restart" when prompted to restart system
9) After system as restarted, launch Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 and
see whether the symptom has gone away.

If symptom has gone away, selectively add items from the startup list until
the problem reoccurs (at which time you will have identified the software
which is causing the problem).

B) Selectively loading back items from startup list

1) Close all running applications
2) Start -> Run
3) Type in "msconfig" without quotation marks
4) Click "OK"
5) Click on "Startup" tab of the System Configuration Utility
6) Click on checkbox to add first item not already selected in the list.
7) Click "OK"
8) Click "Restart" when prompted to restart system
9) After system as restarted, launch Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 and
see whether the symptom reoccurs.
10) If symptom does not reoccur, go back to step 1 and repeat.

Once you detemine what software is causing the problem, we would certainly
appreciate if if you post your results in this newsgroup.

Thanks,
