When i try to add a partition in XP it fails.

I run Windows XP Pro.
When i try to add a partition (65GB)(I have one other
disk that is partitoned to 2 x 100 GB so there should not
be a problem) to 1 of my harddrives in disk mannager the
computer hang. (I did try to do it from a command prompt
inside windows too).
I have tryed Partition Magic and it also hangs when it is
about 63% left for it to do.
I even tryed to do it in DOS with an win98 start disk and
G-disk and I can partition it in DOS and format it too
but after that it do not Boot Windows XP, it just hang
when the blue screen comes up.
I have come to the conclusion that it is something in my
Windows XP Pro that dosen't work. XP is new installed and
uppgraded with all the upgrades and patches from
microsoft. I wounder if there is a problem with some of
the Patches that can make this problem.

To get in to Windows at all after this fail i have to
erase the partition totaly from the disk in DOS mode with
fdisk.
 
How are you adding the partition? Is it showing as unused space and youre
making a partition r are you adding a physical disk and then trying to add
space to an exisiting partition?
 
How many parititions are on that drive already? How are you adding that
partition exactly>
