Can anyone tell me if there is a fix for this? A registry key that I can
alter to have outlook open to the inbox instead of outlook today?
I do have the option to do so in the settings.
TIA

What? It is people like you that makes this site suck, you have no
contributions just smart ass answers. Wake up little boy and get a life. You
have to be a self proclaimed MVP, people that are actual MVP's are more
educated.

Clearly it is your first time here and have never taken the slightest effort
to look around first before posting so I wonder how you can claim such a
thing. Your post is lacking a lot of information. From your post we can
assume a lot of things, all different and all with different solutions so
you might tell us what actually happens when you try that option. Note that
"doesn't work" is much too vague. We already got that part as you posted
here.

Your remark is very rude and it says a lot more about you than about me.

So let me spell it out for you;
Does changing the option have no effect on the folder that is opened on
startup or does the setting get reset to the Outlook Today folder after
restarting Outlook?
What mail account type are you using?
Giving you a registry won't help you one bit as the GUI option is directly
linked to the actual registry setting.

I have been using these newsgroups ever since they where put in place, I did
research prior to posting, it is my belief that I did post all necessary
info, so let me explain in layman's terms.

I installed Office pro XP (2002) version.
I setup an internet e-mail account (which is irrelevant).
I open outlook and it goes directly to the outlook today folder.
I have the setting to go directly to the inbox folder, which it does not. I
have reset it to another option, closed and reopened outlook, reset it back
to return to the inbox closed and reopened outlook and it still opens the
outlook today folder and not the inbox folder.

I do not want to re-create the user profile, there are too many programs
installed.

I can not explain this any better, if you do not understand then please do
not reply.

Thank you

And BTW I already fixed the issue.

Haven't you ever looked over Outlook's options?
Tools>Options>Other>Advanced options. Examine the "Startup in this folder"
value.
