Everytime I log out of windowsXP prof my system restarts. It is not due to a
crash causing windows to restart because I've unticked the appropriate box.
I believe it is due to an MSI security program that I installed then
uninstalled. Can anyone tell me how to reset my registry settings so I can
logout without restarting. Also when I set the screensaver to start up in
the welcome screen thus needing a password entry it just goes to the open
page in windows .
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Keith,

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.

This edit controls whether Windows should automatically power down or reboot
your computer once it has finished the shutdown process.

This edit automatically ends tasks and timeouts that prevent programs from
shutting down and clears the Paging File on Exit.
