When i installed XP Home I lost my modem

I upgraded to XP from ME on my Sony notebook and lost the
ability to log on to a dial up network. Trouble shooting
can cind the modem, but not communicate or dial.
Under device manager PCI SIMPLE COMMUNICATION DEVIVE has
a ? next to it. Is this a clue?
 
I had the same problem when I upgraded to XP. I had to
uninstall the modem and reinstall it with the CD, then go
the manufacturers website and get an upgraded driver.
(from another pc.).
 
If you had gone to Sony's website before you did the upgrade you would have
found complete instructions there for this upgrade.
