When i delete an item can i stop snapping to slide centre?

I have powerpoint 2007

When i delete an item, the display snaps to the centre of the slide...

This is annoying, especially if i am zoomed in, as then have to scroll to
the area i was working in...

can I stop this?

It's a known bug. There's not much to be done about it but curse under your
breath and wait for a service pack to fix it.

Nope. No idea when that might be.
