when I boot XP, it seems to not realize that it has already been set up

I recently installed WinXP professional on a computer that
I put together myself. There are two things I notice,
each time I boot the machine.

1) I get a message box telling me that XP is going to
adjust my display settings, and then another message box
to confirm the changes.

2) I get the sequence of setup screens that ask for the
names of users who will use the machine. I get this every
time (and need to type in a name) despite the fact that I
already have a seperate user account/password set up.

It seems as if WinXP doesn't realize that it has aready
finished setting up, and tries to redo it every time I
reboot.

Any suggestions?

After you set your "Display" did you click OK or Apply?
