When I add a shortcut icon to the start menu, I have to re-boot Win XP in
order for the icon to show up in the start menu!! I think this might be
related to the computer company creating a User account in addition to the
account I created for myself (I am the only person using the computer). How
can I fix this so I don't have to reboot?

Thanks,

Jerry

Try dragging your new shortcut to the Start button and while still holding
your mouse left key, drag it over into programs.

Then right click in programs and select sort by name.
