Thanks to Bruce for answereing my first question.
When do I need to switch the "wireless LAN on/off" button on or off.
For now I see it is on off. What difference will it make on my laptop when I
switch it on. What is it's fucntion.....?

It's function, as the name says, is to allow your laptop to connect to
a wireless network.

You should switch it off when running on batteries and *not* connected to
a wireless network.

The switch turns on and off the wireless network receiver/transmitter.
If you are using any kind of wired internet connection then leave it
off. If you are connecting to the internet through radio waves then turn
it on. It has nothing to do with running on batteries other than if you
are on battery power and the switch is on more power is used.
