Start/Run
Type "winver" ENTER
You will see the expiration date.

So basically, if on 5/31/07, I turn the date back to 11/11/06, it will
keep on running?

No, because it will Prompt You to Re-Activate Windows Vista, Just FYI.

I am confused. Just setting the date back will prompt you to
re-activate windows? Or on 5/31/07 I'll be prompted for reactivation?

So, if on 3/31/07, I set the date back to 11/11/06, will Vista keep on
running?

If you Tamper with the Date in Windows Vista, it will indeed Prompt you
for Re-Activation, Just FYI.

If you try setting back the clock, you will be prompted (and unable) to
reactivate. Vista does monitor for this.

Probably not, but you can try it.
But typically with Microsoft products and such a time bomb, date changes
forward and back are cumulative.
Once the time bomb has gone off, the only option is a Clean Installation.

But then even if you do succeed, now that the computer date is off, you may
have other issues.
Sites with security such as financial, banking, Windows Update, etc will
recognize a problem and give you a cryptic error code.
That is why the first thing to check when such errors occur is simply the
date/time and time zone setting of the computer..

Legally once Vista is released for sale you are to stop using any Beta or RC
of Vista no matter when it expirers.

I just need to setup the PC to do a task in a set it and forget it
fashion and don't feel like reinstalling xp.

Then stand in line and buy Vista on Jan 30, install and forget it. Won't
have to worry about a time bomb then

Well, not quite. You do have what amounts to a grace period. That's why the
RC expires in May, and not, say, in February.
