When connected to a remote workstation is it possible to print to the client
printer that is connect via a USB cable?

I read somewhere this is not supported.

Yes, this is supported on 2000 & 2003 Terminal Server (but not NT4 TSE). You need the Remote Desktop Client, preferably 5.2.3790 to get the best results.
