I didnt know where to put this post so i put it here...

I need to ge tmy mic working so i can use it for UT04, (typing isnt good when your being battered by 10 warlords and requiring help off other players)

It definately works becuase i tried it on another computer, but on mine the other day it was very quiet, then in attempting to get it working i naffed it completely, so im re-downloading the audio drivers for my LanParty mobo, It just needs to be temporary becuae i will buy a sound card soon.

and also i can assure you its not on mute.

Also if i wobble the wire i get 1 green flash of sound :)

but other than that, the computer has no response to the mic

If you are going to use it for gaming, you would need a headset - the game noises would be sent down the mic with your voice and people would hear noises from the game that had happened... people would get annoyed.

You did plug it into the microphone port as opposed to the line in port right?

The mic should be in the pink slot at the back of you computer. (on most soundcards, onboard and PCI), if it isnt colour coded, there should be a picture of a mic on it, if theres no picture, you just gotta try them 1 by 1.

Make sure it isnt muted on the audio options (in system tray, the speaker lookin icon down bottom). Just open up the audio option and go to options>properties and make sure the microphone is selected. Then play with volume control for the mic. If that still doesnt do it, i would try the microphone in another computer to make sure it is working properly.

quick update;

1) I aint stupid,

2) My sound has gone all together, happy days, i have no sound on my built in audio at all, my speakers are definately working, AND NOTHING IS ON MUTE. Its not even crackling like it used to, and i cant live without sound!!

another quick update... think this maybe why???

Also does anyone know of any drivers that i could use instead, i will neer buy a LanParty mobo again ;)

Run all maintenance programs (adaware, windoctor) etc etc, scan your computer for viruses, go to add remove, and remove all programs you can live without, run windows update, uninstall then reinstall the nForce driver set from nvidia.co.uk.

Should do ya.

If that dosent work, i woud say your motherboard is dereggub

Its "dereggub" then, well when your step dad switches off the power to your room while defragging and insalling nVidia drivers because he's in a mood with you, that aint good i guess...
