What's wrong with the FireFox / K-Meleon tabbed window feature ?

I use the K-Meleon 0.82 + for the past few days, and I generally enjoy
it.

However, there's something wrong with the tab-window feature.

The idea of the Tab-Window feature, if I am correct, is copied from
the Opera browser. Under Opera, Tab-Windows have their own layer. That
is, you can see another layer on the top of the page, where you can
click on one tab to go straight to whatever site you are on.

But on my K-Meleon, the tab-window is broken. Yes, I do use the
layered-window plugins, and yes, I can kinda "open and close" the
"tab-windows" but I just CANNOT see them !!

On the top of the page, I don't see that "tab layer" that suppose to
be there, and I have idea what's going on.

Perhaps there's some configuration thing that somehow have been turned
off, but I dunno which one to turn on to enable that tab window thing.

Can anyone help, please ?

Thanks in advance !!

You would be better to ask at the K-Meleon Forums:

FireFox and K-Meleon have totally separate implementations of the
tabbed window feature.

You will need specific K-Meleon help, not FireFox help.
Newsgroups: netscape.public.mozilla.browser

You will need specific K-Meleon help, not Mozilla help.

First thing to do: read the K-Meleon User's Guide

• In K-Meleon, "Help -> K-Meleon Homepage" will take you to the
K-Meleon Homepage. Click on "Documentation" then on "User's Guide".

• If you have not yet checked the K-Meleon User's Guide (a.k.a. manual),
you should do so. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/manual/

• If you had checked the K-Meleon User's Guide, and looked at the
page on the tabbed window feature (which K-Meleon calls "Layers"),
you would have found the following. Does this solve your problem?
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/manual/layers.html
| The layers buttonbar can be toggled on or off by the View->Toolbars->Layers menu choice

Second thing to do: check the configuration of the "Layered Windows Plugin"

• The "Layered Windows Plugin", can be configured here...
† Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Plugins
† Select the "Layered Windows Plugin"
† Click the "Configure" button

• If you have not yet checked the configuration of the
"Layered Windows Plugin", you should do so.

• If you had checked the configuration of the "Layered Windows Plugin",
you would have found the setting
[x] Enable Layers Toolbar
Does this setting solve your problem?

Third thing to do: Go to the K-Meleon Forums and look for relevant discussions

• In K-Meleon, "Help -> K-Meleon Forums" will take you to the K-Meleon Forums.

• If you have not yet looked for relevant discussions on the K-Meleon forums,
you should do so. http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/list.php?f=1

• If you had looked for relevant discussions on the K-Meleon forums,
you would have found the following discussion. Does this discussion
solve your problem?
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/forum/read.php?f=1&i=17802&t=17802
| "I can't get layers to work properly"

Perhaps there's some configuration thing that somehow have been turned
off, but I dunno which one to turn on to enable that tab window thing.

Can anyone help, please ?

There are three obvious things to do, above.
Thanks in advance !!
