Hi All ...i hope some-one can help me

i just downloaded Vista & burned it to a DVD , but when i open the file to
install
all it has is a Readme text file that says

This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

iam running windows xp ...whats up !!!???

thanx ..peace Xibit

Did you burn an image to the DVD or just the file? When you say "open" what
exactly are you doing?

Clark

Hi Clark , thanx for the reply ....i have my HD partitioned , so i want to
install on my D drive , C has Xp ...if i try to boot the cd nothing happens

when i click on the Vista setup which seems okay 2.646 gb , again the only
thing that opens is a Readme txt file , thats says what i mentioned earlier

i burned what -ever was on my desktop man ...
vista_5600.16384.060829-2230_x86fre_client-lr1cfre_en_dvd

do you think the download from the start , never happened properly ???
thats what iam thinking ...because it kept on freezing on me

iam doing a fresh download again now to see what happens , even now iam
frozen again at 2048 mb ...using adsl 1024 , this should not be happening

You need to burn the iso to DVD using the 'burn image' function in your
burning program. Just copying the iso file to a DVD will not work.
In Nero, using Nero Burning ROM, close any wizards, select the Recorder tab,
then Burn Image, and point it to the Vista iso. Using Nero StartSmart, you
would need the Copy and Backup tab, then Burn DVD Image.

burncdcc is a free program that will also automatically burn an iso image to
disc.

Remember to use the slowest speed possible for the burn.

Hi guys ..well i have WinRar also installed , so this is what i mean when i
open the file all i see is a Readme txt

iam using Cyberlink Power To Go & Power To Go Exspess, it is the burning
software that came with my computer & i find it very good

using Nero ... 6 out 10 burns... Nero usuallyb end's up actually burning the
cd's making them useless ..i have burned a zillion cd's with Cyberlink never
a problem

but i did use Power To Go Exspress to burn Vista , so i will try again with
just Power To Go its the actual burn image program , just like in Nero

The file you downloaded is an image of the DVD you need to burn. You can't
execute it or unpack it. You have to use a DVD burning program to create
the bootable disc you need. If your computer is not equipped with a DVD
burner then you'll have to copy it to another computer. The DVD burning
program will either ask you if you wish to create a disc from the ISO file
or you'll have to tell it to create a DVD from the ISO. You can't just copy
the ISO to a DVD because that doesn't work either.

guys i have a brand new , hot out of the box , Asus W1 Carbon Notebook

so basically i have 2 options here
create a data DVD
burn disk image , with 2 options CD or DVD

iam burning & its not working !!

i have tried now with Nero also , nothing !
the cd is not booting ! , installing , nothing !

peace Xibit

could this be the problem , looking at the file system after burning
it's burning as a ISO 9660 Joliet

isnt it suppose to be burning as ISO 13346 ??

Use Nero Express, click on Disc Image or Saved Project, open the ISO
file, check Verify data on disc after burning, and click on Next.

Hey Xibit,
Just use the DAEMON Tools, Google for them. Then mount the image and
install to your partition, and you will have your dual boot!
Tim

in Nero 7 Premium ...there are 2 options i just noticed here
Burrn a CD Rom (UDF)
Burn a CD Rom (UDF/ISO)

could 1 of these be the proper way ???

guys iam a WebDesigner & Programmer , i thought i could check out Vista &
help out to finally making an OS that is stable & worth buying !

i never run anything illegal or cracked on my computers , so if cant , just
do the job with a simple recording program , like Nero or Cyberlink , then it
really sucks man !

peace Xibit

You are very close. You need to find the option to "burn the image" but it
is to a DVD, not a CD

Hi Mark ...fellow dutchmen??? thanx , it finally worked !

thats what i needed to do specify the UDF/ISO format , but it didnt matter
if was burned as CD or DVD ;o)

Personally I think Power ISO is the best of all the image burning software.
Nero is very unpredictable (5, 6 or 7). Also I like Alcohol 120% for making
and burning image files. both give you the DVD or CD choice as well.

I had no problem burning the beta with Power ISO.

Yup. My family still has a farm near Delft in Schipluiden, South Holland.
My father emigrated when he was a young man, his family all stayed in
Europe. I do keep in contact with uncles and cousins, but my Dutch never
was very good!
