Whats with the XP2500+ !!!

I have just fitted a new XP2500+ Barton to my ASUS A7N8X-X MB.
With the FSB set to 400mhz in the BIOS my machine now thinks it is an
XP3200+ !!!!

Im not complaining but how can this be ? I understand they are unlocked but
what does that actually mean in practice ?

You have your FSB set to 200. The 2500 is 166FSB, so you are overclocking.
If it is a newer one then it is locked. The unlocked ones let you change the
multiplier.
