Tried uninstalling program then re-installing it again after an internet
connection could not be detected. Then application hijacking appeared thru my
firewall. Microsoft has not been able to answer any of my questions. If you
are having problems with the program updates, do not uninstall, then
re-install. The same thing happened to my buddy too.

i just got off the phone with a microsoft tech support agent named "A.J." and
he said that part of the problem is resolved with the servers and some but
not all can update. he said to show some patientce with it as it will update
but not to check so often as to not overload or bog down the servers. He
further stated that it is being looked at still and hopefully have the
servers all up and running by monday or tuesday (dec 12-13 '05). IT IS A
SERVER ERROR not a problem with your systems settings. the application cannot
detect a server so it automatically pops the messege thinking that the
connection is down.

Hi I uninstalled and re-installed no problem but it made no difference at
all,so i think i will just try and be patient.

It looks like the UK is having the same problems as well. Or are these guys
stupid enough just to have updates comming from one site in the states!

the servers in question that are having the problems are the ones in Canada,
not the States.... he just told me it is wide spread and is being dabbled
with. here in North America, namely the United States are just now seeing
little results of it. I really don't know what would be happening in the U.K.
but i would assume that many here in North America trying to update are
bogging your servers down as well. I have already stopped trying and am
updating manually.

HI everybody : funny you should mention this , but I am having the same
problem
here in uk . . being very safety - conscious whenever I am using my pc,
I always check for updates every couple of hours . . and the prog has done
its job
- - until now . ! .... hopefully,as jaybeast69 has said the problem will be
sorted
as soon as possible ( as I fear I am flying by the seat of my pants at the
moment ! ) ... I have tried all the other a/s progs and this one is the only
one I feel comfortable with . . In the meantime I will be relying on my free
AVG to
pull me thru' so .... COME ON, MICROSOFT - get it sorted . . Mr.Gates: are
you
listening . . ? ;)

I'm afraid the same happened to me last night.
I spent all evening frantically trying out different antispyware
programmes... and uninstalling them (not happy with them, I'm a Microsoft fan)
I finally reinstalled the latest version of Microsoft Antispyware Version
1.0.701, only to find out my update still didn't work.
I'm relieved (so to speak) I've just found out this is not a problem with my
computer, but obviously a Microsoft issue, although I hope I can update my
version before something bad happens to my computer.
Forums all over the place are flooded with questions about this problem, it
seems advisable not to try the update too often to avoid overloading
Microsoft servers.
Let's be cross fingers & be patient, all is seemingly under (relative)
control....
