Hi,

I have been using Win XP Home for about 6 months now on my current
machine. Recently, something funny has started happening. I have an
administrator account and a restricted user account which i use mostly.
I had the windows XP (silver) theme running. Many times when i start
the machine the theme switches to the classic view. Very few times it
opens up as the XP silver theme i had before. This happens even after i
reset the theme back to the WinXP ( blue or silver ) theme.

Funnily it happens ( though very few times ) with the administrator
account also.

I also noticed that the wireless network connection does not get
enabled automatically in the restricted user account ( as it usually
does ) and i have to restart the machine for that.

All other stuff seems to work perfectly well and both these things are
frustating.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
Chetan

Are you using a laptop or PC? The network driver embedded into some older
motherboards fail to start until you reboot 1 or 2 times but sounds like you
are using a USB adapter in that case you should be able to restart it in
windows.

If you think your registry permissions is corrupt try this:

Download SubInAlc from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...56-D8FE-4A91-93CF-ED6985E3927B&displaylang=en

then go here.
Reset the entire registry permissions to defaults (Rameshs Blog)
http://winonline.blogspot.com/2005/11/reset-entire-registry-permissions-to.html
(rameshs link to subinalc is broken)

good luck

I have a laptop pentium 4 with 1.6 Mhz and so it is not that old. And i
am using a wireless adapter Intel Pro 2200BG

I tried the following suggestion posted in the group:

I'm surprised that you still had the problem after you 're-loaded
Windows' but try this little fix from this site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm this is a reputable site
and the files called VBS file are safe to run.
Scroll down to line 271. Stuck in Classic View? Undo Now

And used the tweak. It seems to fix the theme problem as well as the
connection to the network. Hope the network problem is related to this
and has been truly solved.

I wonder why this problem occured in the first place.

Thanks for all the help,
Chetan
