whats the max i should overclock?

i have a P4 2.4C GHz proc.
i have TWO 120mm fans also a CPU fan, of course.
i wanna overclock 25% to 3.0 GHz. should i try? or will it get too hot? or
is 25% tooooo much? lol. TIA for all help.

There are no arbitary limits.
Overclock as much as you can.
When your PC stops being 100% stable, you've gone too far.
 
I'm using a P4 2.4C on an Asus P4P800. I'm currently overclocked 30%, to
something like 3.124ghz. I'm using the stock Intel heatsink/fan and only
one case fan in the back of the chasis. The temperature is very low (idles
at 30c, peaks at 47c under 100% sustained load) and it is perfectly stable.
Some hardware review sites got this to overclock to 3.5ghz stable with stock
heatsink/fan.
