what's the ITW(in the wild) virus meaning?

we alway say that virus in-the-wild,then what's the meaning?


It means that the virus has been reported to currently be infecting
systems. As Nick put it, "it's out there".

Most of the thousands of viruses in AV databases are zoo viruses,
which means it's highly unlikely you will encounter them.

possibly that i can be found in the wild? that it exists as more than
just some lab sample somewhere?
