whats the differnce with beta

i have a auto up dates for some of my programs i get he option to down load beta whats the difference?

Beta Software is normally software in it's pre-release stage and still being tested.
That said it may still be a working product that can be used as if it where the full release.

As murdoch said, beta software hasn't been thoroughly tested for bugs and glitches but may be fine.

The idea of a company releasing beta software is so that users can report bugs and then they can be corrected.

FWIW I rarely use beta software, I wait until the approved version is released (with the exception of video drivers).
