Hello everyone ... still in da process of building my m8's pc ... just asking about the OS now lol

What's the difference between these 2 ?!?! There da same price :S lol

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition - OEM (OS-002-MS)

Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition - OEM (SW-022-MS)

Would like to know quickly please :P Thanx !

The 64X edition is the brand new OS for 64bit processing. It's only just come out of beta testing and probably still very buggy. There are no applications or games that are made to work with it yet and drivers may be an issue. Personally, i'd avoid it for now and go with the other OS (the 32 bit XP). This is well tried and tested and runs fine with 64bit chips.

In other words, go for the first one.:thumb:

XP 64 has been release thus no longer being in beta.

64bits applications will now flow, as they have done for linux.

I'm sure you're right Techy - I just read about a couple of 64bit apps that are native to 64Bit like Adobe's Creative Suite 2 (but i don't think it's on the shelves yet). Microsoft are working on a 64bit version of Office, of course, and game developers are no doubt getting into gear. I just posted a thread in the gaming discussion area about a new 64bit patch for Far Cry you might want to check out.
