What's the difference between sharing permission and security tab?

When I share a folder in W2K, the sharing screen has a sharing tab with
permissions button, as well as a security tab. What's the difference between
those two places in terms of setting up access security for a shared folder?
Thanks.

Sharing permissions are available both on FAT32 and on NTFS volumes.
The are only a small subset of the available NTFS security permissions.

If you have an NTFS volume then you should set the sharing permissions
to "Full Access" for everyone, and apply all required restrictions to the
NTFS permissions. It makes no sense using two permission sets at the
same time.

Thanks for the help.
