That's definitely an option, however, there are many instances where SP4
installs without problems.
When performing a new installation of Windows 2000, your chances of
installing the service pack without a hitch are increased, as there are
fewer (or no) other products installed on your machine that might conflict
with SP installation.
We always recommend thorough testing of updates in your specific
environment.
