for some time now i've been trying to get into some game sites e.g pogo.com,
yahoo games. i can sign-in, but when the games room comes up, my internet
explorer 6, just shuts down(its does the same on my msn explorer, aswell)
recently, i've add norton internet sercuity to my computer, could this be the
problem, and can it be solved.

Many of those sites require Java (The language, not JavaScript) which these
days is only supplied by Sun, not Microsoft. That may be a part of the
problem. It won't hurt to get the latest Java but that may not cure
anything. What windows OS is it?

Does the browser work on this page?
http://www.java.com/en/index1.jsp
Test page
http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
If all else fails you can maybe download it here
http://www.java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp

Uncheck the Google Toolbar option, it will only complicate matters.

Norton Internet Security is the cause of a great many problems, most likely
it is attempting to block active scripting and committing suicide in the
process :). As a first step when problems occur always eliminate NIS first.

thanks for the reply, i'll try out the links, and see what happens. i'm new
to computers, but i hope this is the right answer to your question, windows
xp home. i'll let you know how things go, thanks once again for the reply.

big thanks, charlie, for the advice, i deleted the java what i had, then used
the third link, to reinstall and update. hey presto, the game sites are
playable again!!!! Thank You.

Great, can't always get it right because there are so many possible
combinations of hardware and software but sometimes we just get lucky.
