The roll paper that's used to make receipts, like regular cash register
receipts, what kind of paper is that? Let's say I wanted some 8.5"x11"
size sheets of it, what would I order?

or fax thermal paper, similuar to the receipt paper there both thermal
paper, try it out yes the rolls come in 8x11

never seen it like that before just in 8 inch 40 foot rolls. but its a
possibility like at a special office or business supply store. i just
get the roles and cut my own sheets

It's a special paper, designed to fade, so you can't prove your warranty
claim by using it as proof of purchase.

Its just thermal paper, a photocopy of the receipt validates a warranty.
also its used because its cheap, and the printers are cheap to make, and
require no ink.

Other than if you bought a roll of fax paper, I have never seen it in any
other way.

As a general rule, the paper would be too thin, and attracts/sticks too
itself too much to work properly in a ADF, and because being cheap is its
main reason of existing, roll is the way its sold.

Can I ask what you would use thermal paper for (other than a thermal
printer)?

<g> - What do they use for invoices? They don't fade - they're ultra-
permanent and just won't go away.

It would depend on what type of POS printer you have. If it's one of the
older types chances are it uses plain paper. If it's one of the newer
thermal printers it would use paper compatible with that type of printer
which has a special waxy like coating on it.

A silly answer. It's thermal paper for register printers. Fades with
time, but before that the maailing deadline should have expired. Beside,
only adumb person sends an original receipt.

I thought that was the kind of paper epson were useing a few years, when
used with their ink it was designed to fade so you would have to use more
reprinting in a few months time when the photos faded.:-)
