When I look at a cda file CD all I see is a 1 KB file size for each track.
There's obviously a lot more on the disk. Is there any way to what else is
on the disk? Tried Karen's directory printer but no joy.
Just curious -

A 'PS" to my own posting -

Should have mentioned what I really need to know is how many files I can put
on a CD. Obviously, if every one shows up as only 1 k, it's no help.
Thx again

Cda's are merely an indication that music is on there - see the first two
artiles here :

http://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&q=.cda+file+&meta=

You can put about 74 minutes of music on a standard CD.

What software do you use to burn with ?

Thanks for the info Jerry -

I'm using NERO v6, which came with my Sony CD/DVD drive. v6 is now outdated
and unsupported. I tried to update to the current v8, but at 180+megs, my
local ISP timed me out (an all nighter). Anyway, v6 has an option called
Disk Info, which does show file size. Looks like 22k is typical. So I have
a start on what I'm trying to do.

Speaking of which, maybe you can help me on a similar issue (posted an
inquiry on this but no replies.) My wife is a professional organist.
We're trying to get selected items on a single CD. But no matter what I do
(again, using NERO v6) to input text in preparation to burn a disk, the
final disk comes out with file labels of Track01, Track02, Track03, etc.
How can I get correct names on these tracks?

BTW, Disk Info shows not only track number but the correct name, so the
correct name is on the disk somehow. So I guess the real question is how to
get it to show when I put the disk in a CD-ROM (or my computer.)

Again, thanks for the help - it is appreciated.

There is not any easy answer. See this link, second reply to the question :

I don't know if this will work or not but you've only got one CDr to
lose if you want to try it.

I burn mp3s from CDs and when I'm done the mp3 has the same track01, etc
as the file name. My mp3 ripping software allows me to add the artist
name and album name but those doesn't show up in Windows explorer. That
information does show up in WMP as the mp3 plays.

With the mp3 file, in Windows Explorer, I highlight the track, say
track01.mp3, and change it to Artist_SongTitle.mp3.

Have you considered ripping your CD music files to mp3 files?

If you got to have .cda files then you can try one or two things.

First, drag the track01.cda file to your harddrive and see if you can
rename it and then see if you can burn that re-named file back to a CDr?

Or, copy the CD using your Nero software and choose the option to not
close the disk. Once the files are burned, use Nero on the copy disk and
see if you can highlight the track01.cda file and change the name that way.

I don't know if either of the above will work but you've only got one
CDr to lose if it doesn't. ;(
