What's happened to Java?

I'm trying to watch some animated radar images that
require Java. I'm not able to view them, and I can't
figure out how to turn on/off Java.

The Microsoft support pages are insanely vague about Java-
-does Microsoft no longer support Java? Does that mean
you're just out of luck if a site requires Java to be
viewed?

I have IE 6.0.2 and I'm running XP.

Java is no longer part of IE. Microsoft lost a lawsuit.

Go to http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html and get the version you
want.
