Can someone tell me what an acceptable temp for a P4 3.0GHz Prescott
processor is please?

Cheers.

P4 Prescott runs Hot, idle 47 C Full load 65 C But you can reduce it
to Idle 32C and Full load 39C by using Good quality Heatsink. like <
Copper Heatsink > or CPU water cooling .

Hope this info helps

About 1000 degrees C should incinerate it nicely - but seriously though I'm
concerned (as are many people) that these newer CPUs draw so much current
and run so hot. Personally, I'm going to wait for newer Intel CPUs which are
reputed to be based on the much cooler running and lower wattage Pentium 4
Mobile core (which is itself based on Pentium III designs apparently).
There's no way in the world that I'd consider basing my next Media Centre PC
on a Prescott CPU (unless I wanted it to heat the lounge as well).
