Just got 2 IIyama E431S lovely picture for games very vibrant and punchy and
nice and crisp. DVI and cost around 350 for a good quality LCD. It has a
small frame and stand pretty neat.

I prefer a bigger screen for home though. 181T (18.1") Samsung is a nice
picture in DVI, although Samsung are driving me nuts at the moment with
their returns policies, got the 181T replaced with a 191T (I had a problem
and they had no 181T to swap out). Only thing they didn't send the power
pack (external for 191T, internal for 181T) and here I am nearly a MONTH
later waiting for the powerpack despite many phone calls telling Samsung "no
there is a difference", complaints, you name it. AVOID.

Thanks.

I'm not in the market for a flat panel display at the moment, but I'm rather
excited to see that some of Samsung's 172X displays have a 12ms response
time. However, I have also read that some versions of the 172X still have a
25ms response time, so be careful. It's good to see that it has both an
analog and DVI connector. I wonder how good the 12ms model is. Someone I
know has no less than three Samsung LCD's in his house (171T and 191T
models) and has sworn by Samsung's displays in general for a good number of
years now due to his very positive experience.

LCD monitors also blur and distort the image when you do not play games
at the fixed pixel image. Even the most powerful video cards out and to
come will not be able to drive Half-Life2, Doom3, Far Cry, etc at
1600x1200 with all eye candy on.

If your needs are for gaming, shoot for an 18" (20" CRT effective)
1280x1024 fixed pixel sub 16ms LCD. If you are a details or fidelity
person you will not enjoy blurred/stretched images of 1024x768 or
1280x1024 games stretched out to 1600x1200 fixed pixel display. That is
also why you need to mate the LCD monitor to a video card capable of
playing the games you want at the fixed pixel resolution of the monitor.

I have the Neovo AG K-19 LCD and I can clearly see (and dislike) any
loss of visual fidelity that I get playing games at 1024x768 resolution
on my 1280x1024 fixed pixel LCD.

Just food for thought.. YMMV

I researched a 191T which is a "sale" item locally. I found some
disturbing references to DVI input port failures with that model.

Google it.

Thanks.

I use a Planar PX171M. Excellent design and a pivot and twist function that
is hard to beat. Also, top of the line response rate. 17" with a 16ms
rate--the best there was when I got it. I believe you may be able to find a
larger screen with similar response rate these days--but not many and of
course you'll be spending more $.

Here is a review and some nice pictures.

We have two of the Samsung 191T's and we've never had a problem with the
DVI outputs at all.

FWIW, there is a new 172X out that is supposed to be able to go 12 ms.
Don't know if that's a real-world number or a marketing number that only
works in some weird mode.
